So what is the difference between a free PDF creator, and one you have to pay for? Apart from the price, of course. Do you really need the extra features of the paid version, or will the free one do what you want? If you are intending on creating a simple ebook for sale, then you don't need something that is set up to intergrate into an Enterprise situation.
While you can pay big money for the "name" products such as Acrobat Professional™, you can get perfectly adequate software for a fraction of the price, or even free. But you need to check that it will actually give you good results. Here's what a GOOD PDF creator should do. To get more details on individual PDF creators, check the reviews page
These are both online, and PDF printers you install on your computer. One thing I look for in deciding on the worth of a PDF creator, is ease of use. The easier it is to use, the better. I really don't want to have to go into the program, alter settings and change paramaters to get it working correctly.
I want to be able to click an icon that says "convert to PDF" (or hit the print button), and have it create a good PDF with all the functionality already built in. We are NOT all software experts. So the easier it is to use for the average person, the more highly I rate the program (of course, it still has to produce good results).
